We are honored to celebrate justice — and the 101st anniversary of our organization’s founding — with the Honorable Thelton E. Henderson and former U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. this Wednesday, July 12, at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.

Mr. Holder will be in conversation with Stanford Law Professor Pamela S. Karlan. Mr. Holder served as U.S. Attorney General from 2009 to 2015 and was the first African-American to hold the position. Among other priorities, he safeguarded civil and voting rights and ended federal support of the Defense of Marriage Act. Now a partner with Covington & Burling, where he has advised California Legislature and led an investigation into management at Uber, Mr. Holder will address topics of particular interest to the Bay Area legal community.

The Honorable Thelton E. Henderson, Recipient of the Mathew O. Tobriner Public Service Award for 2017

Judge Henderson will receive our 2017 Mathew O. Tobriner Public Service Award in recognition of his distinguished career. Appointed to the federal bench by President Jimmy Carter in 1980, Judge Henderson is a senior judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to his appointment, Judge Henderson worked for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice; as a legal aid lawyer; and in private practice.

More than 800 lawyers, social justice leaders, and community members will be in attendance.

The event is sold out. But you can follow it live on Twitter @LegalAidAtWork or at Facebook.com/LegalAidatWork. We will be posting photos and highlights throughout the night.
