As we mourn, with deep sadness, the death of our heroine Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the loss of her passionate voice and inspiration we can think of her humble comment:

“I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability.”

As we know, she lived those words and left us with a legacy for justice, equity, and inclusion that we must now battle fiercely to uphold — for they will be under attack as never before.

Justice Ginsburg inspired so many of us who advocated for women’s rights in the 1970’s and 1980’s and, more broadly, for the civil and human rights of all persons who suffered from the structural barriers that oppressed women, people of color, families, immigrants, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community and others.

I believe too that we will carry out our work in her spirit as we bring ourselves fully to our cause.

We have much to do and I know we are up to the fight that Justice Ginsburg has laid out for us.

And fight we shall.
