LAS-ELC attorney Chris Ho named among California’s best labor and employment lawyers by Daily Journal Corp.

The Daily Journal legal newspaper has named LAS-ELC senior staff attorney Chris Ho, director of our National Origin Program, among California’s best labor and employment lawyers in 2016. The Daily Journal singled out Chris for his work responding to the discriminatory impacts of employers’ growing use of allegations of unlawful behavior to disqualify applicants from employment.

Following a 6-day bench trial in 2015, Judge William H. Alsup ruled in favor of our client, Victor Guerrero, a naturalized U.S. citizen. Alsup found that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s question about prior use of an invalid Social Security Number adversely affected Latinos and was neither job-related nor rationally based. The state has appealed the ruling to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The case is Guerrero v. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 13-cv-5671 (N.D. Cal., filed Dec. 9, 2013).
