Pressing social justice issues are focus of summer lecture series

We are pleased to announce the 34th annual Elizabeth J. Cabraser Summer Lecture Series at Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center. Grab your lunch, and come by! Starting Tuesday, June 7, and running weekly through Aug. 2 (except July 5), these conversations will address many of today’s most important topics in public interest law.

MCLE credit is available for all nine lectures.

Most of the lectures will be held at LAS-ELC’s office at 180 Montgomery Street, Sixth floor, San Francisco. Find a complete calendar here

The series opens with “Environmental Justice After Flint,” featuring leaders from Earthjustice, Communities for a Better Environment, Berkeley Law’s environmental law clinic, and the Center for Race, Poverty and the Environment, who will talk about strategies for addressing harmful conditions in low-income communities in California.

At two events on July 26, Erwin Chemerinsky, the founding dean and now the Raymond Pryke Professor of First Amendment Law at UC Irvine School of Law, will assess the U.S. Supreme Court’s most recent term. Please email brownbaglectures@las-elc.org to let us know whether you will attend either the noon lecture at Morrison & Foerster or the 5 p.m. event, which starts with a reception, at Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass, both in San Francisco.
