Marisa Díaz
Program Director, Work & Family Program
Marisa Díaz is the Director of the Work & Family Program at Legal Aid at Work, where she leads the team in advocating for the workplace rights of parents, pregnant people, caregivers, and survivors of domestic violence.
Prior to taking on this role, Marisa served as the Immigrant Worker Justice Program Director at the National Employment Law Project (NELP). At NELP, Marisa partnered with organizations, government agencies, and elected officials across the U.S. to build worker power and expand myriad workplace rights for immigrant workers through policy advocacy, amicus efforts, and worker organizing. Prior to NELP, Marisa worked as an attorney in LAAW’s National Origin and Immigrants’ Rights Program (NOIR) for almost seven years. In that role, Marisa engaged in impact litigation, amicus work, direct services, policy advocacy, and community education to defend and expand the rights of immigrant workers and workers who experienced discrimination based on their national origin.
After graduating from Stanford Law School in 2013, Marisa began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael Daly Hawkins of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and then as an attorney fellow at Equal Rights Advocates (ERA). While at ERA, Marisa managed a national helpline on workplace gender justice issues, engaged in class action litigation to enforce workers’ rights to pregnancy-related accommodations, and engaged in community education and policy advocacy on gender justice issues.
