If you’re reading this online, you’ve already found our new website. Welcome!

Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center changed its name the first week of January to Legal Aid at Work. We’re entering our second century with a new look and sharpened branding. And we are raising the bar for disability access with a brand new website, built in collaboration with the Center for Accessible Technology in Berkeley.

Our nonprofit has helped tens of thousands of people solve pressing daily legal problems since our founding in 1916. And our focus remains on securing and strengthening our clients’ rights — even if the new administration in Washington moves to roll back decades of important legislation and regulations.

In the short run, that means we are launching a helpline for workers who feel they are the victims of hate crimes at work, and we are creating a video to clearly explain in multiple languages the rights of undocumented workers. Of course, we also will continue to provide free direct services in clinics and by phone; we offer information in trainings and online; we help write and promote new laws and policies to protect and strengthen civil and employment rights; and we have litigated and won settlements in many of the state’s most important civil and employment rights cases over the decades.

We expect to benefit greatly from the unified image that our new name will help us to build. “Legal Aid at Work” encompasses all of our advocacy — in the courtroom, administrative agencies, and the Legislature, online, and in the community. It’s also easier to say and remember. And our new website is easier to navigate.

But we have all the same great lawyers, staff, board, and supporters. All of our free services and programs are continuing, and we have the same street address and phone numbers. Emails to our old addresses and visitors to our old website are being automatically be redirected.

Please call (415-864-8848) or drop us a note at info@las-elc.org to share any suggestions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from you.
