Field workers, dishwashers, house cleaners and other low-income workers are being hit hard by the loss of homes and jobs to the wildfires that have devastated Northern California this month. As experts in workers’ rights, we are beefing up our free online resources and clinic services in response.
For undocumented immigrants, the challenges of this catastrophe are compounded by the fear that seeking help will expose them to immigration officials. But we assist low-wage workers regardless of their status; Legal Aid at Work never asks about immigration status.
